Aage A. Mikalsen

Sunlight in the Living Chamber of Dr. Denzel Nadir @ OMNIBUS

Aage A. Mikalsen utilizes notions of identity, medical science and critical  conditions in his explorations of personal experiences and narratives. His post-conceptual approach manifests through a variety of methods and media – such as installation, performance, and material-based works.

He is one half of the artist duo Mikalsen & Marhaug, and he’s had an active curatorial practice since 2019: as a co-founder and curator of OMNIBUS; the club and exhibition series KunstKLUBB; the micro gallery 0.9, as well as with singular projects.

His work has been shown at a variety of galleries and exhibition spaces – through solo, duo, collaborative, and group exhibitions – both nationally and internationally. Some of these include OMNIBUS (2025), KunstKLUBB (2024 & 2022) Bøler Triennalen (2023), NW Gallery/Copenhagen Photo Festival (2022), Hannah Ryggen Triennale Anti-Monument (2022), Heimdal Kunstforening (2020 – 2021), Edvard Munch Haus, Warnemünde (2020), Gallery Steinsland Berliner (2019), House of Vans (2019), Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (2019), and Rockheim Panorama (2018).

Mikalsen holds a BFA (2021) and an MFA (2023) from Trondheim Academy of Fine Art, NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology). His work has been acquired by Trondheim Municipality’s collection.
